All horses regardless of their intended discipline need the same basic approach to beginning their under saddle careers.  They all need, to have good manners on the ground while being handled, they must learn to work pleasantly and willingly in hand, stand tied, be groomed, have their feet handled, be sprayed, lunged, etc., etc., ...before making the transition to finding their trainer no longer by their side but on their back!  All good common sense stuff.  How you approach this early stage, will determine what kind of citizen you will produce for the next stage in his training.  .....and  the same can be said for the next stage and so on and so forth...

At Pinewood we have started, trained and retrained many horses.  We use our own quiet, tried and trusted method that produces calm, confident, well mannered horses that go quietly and willingly under saddle.  We adhere to classical principles and methods that have been around for hundreds of years because they still work.  We do not do rush jobs or quick fixes and we cannot produce a nice horse or pony for you in 30 days!  (Please call Bubba down the street!!)

Please contact us if you have a horse that you would like us to work with, whether it be a yet-to-be-started youngster, an already going green horse or an older horse in need of some retraining; or even a 'race reject' in need of 'vocational rehabilitation'!  We also work with horse and rider combinations, we can work with you, with your horse; and with you and your horse together.
Plenty of references from satisfied clients can be obtained if required.

Shown here are a few examples of horses we have bought, trained and sold; and horses we have started and trained for clients.
